History of the Aylsham Friends Meeting In the late 1980s, a group of Friends started to hold Meetings for Worship in one of their homes. Later, as the number of Friends attending grew, the Meeting moved to other locations in Aylsham, including the Friendship Club and the Green Room of the Town Hall. In the early 1990s, a core group of Friends in Alysham decided that the time had come to look for a property. Various buildings were considered, and in November 1993 an offer was made for a converted barn in Peggs Yard, off Red Lion Street, which was at the time being used as an architect's office. Despite various issues around changing the building's use and the waiver of a covenant on the property, the purchase was completed in June 1994, and the first Meeting for Worship was held on July 10th 1994. |
In 2014 we celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the first meeting in the Meeting House, at which several of the founder members were present. |
